Animal-Assisted Therapy
Animal Assisted Therapy can offer comfort, support, and connection during the healing process. The presence of an animal may help ease anxiety, reduce stress, increase feelings of safety, and make therapy feel more approachable.
Together, we work at a pace that feels supportive and grounded, using the human-animal connection to help build trust, emotional regulation, confidence, and a greater sense of calm in daily life.
Understanding Animal-Assisted Therapy
Animal Assisted Therapy is more than simply spending time with an animal. It uses the human-animal connection to help reduce stress, support emotional regulation, and create a sense of safety that can make therapy feel more grounded and approachable.
Emotional Regulation
Animals can offer a calming presence that helps reduce stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. In therapy, this support can make it easier to slow down, stay present, and practice coping skills.
Safety and Support
Animal Assisted Therapy can help create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel more comfortable. Feeling safe and supported can make it easier to explore emotions, build trust, and engage in the healing process.
Connection and Trust
Forming a bond with an animal can support feelings of connection, empathy, and emotional openness. This relationship can help clients practice trust and strengthen their ability to connect with others.
Confidence and Grounding
Interacting with an animal can help clients build confidence through gentle, structured activities. These moments can also support grounding, self-awareness, and a stronger sense of stability in daily life.

My Approach to Animal Assisted Therapy
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to Animal Assisted Therapy. Each person brings different emotions, needs, comfort levels, and goals, so therapy should move at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.
Depending on your needs, Animal Assisted Therapy may include grounding skills, emotional regulation, connection-building, confidence-building, and gentle interaction with my therapy dog, Louis. Louis is a golden doodle with lots of energy and love to give, and his presence can help make therapy feel warmer, more comfortable, and more connected.
