Trauma Therapy

You may notice yourself feeling on edge, emotionally overwhelmed, or pulled back into painful experiences even when you are trying to move forward. Trauma can live in the body and nervous system, showing up as tension, hyper vigilance, numbness, difficulty trusting others, or feeling unable to fully relax.

Trauma therapy offers a supportive space to understand these responses with care, not judgment. Together, we work at your pace to process what happened, rebuild a sense of safety, and help you feel more grounded, connected, and present in your daily life.

Trauma is more than something difficult that happened in the past. It can live in the body, shape how safe you feel, and feel completely exhausting.

Understanding Trauma

Childhood and Developmental Trauma

Early experiences of neglect, instability, criticism, or emotional harm can shape how safe you feel in the world. These experiences can continue to shape emotional responses, relationships, and a person’s sense of safety later in life.

Relational and Attachment Trauma

Experiences of betrayal, emotional abuse, inconsistency, or unsafe relationships can make connection feel difficult or overwhelming. Over time, this can affect trust, boundaries, and emotional security with others.

Acute Trauma

A single overwhelming experience, such as an accident, assault, sudden loss, or crisis, can leave lasting effects on the mind and body. Even after the event has ended, feelings of fear, tension, or hyper vigilance may remain.

Complex Trauma

Long-term or repeated exposure to fear, stress, instability, or emotional pain can deeply affect emotional regulation and sense of self. It may lead to chronic feelings of shame, disconnection, anxiety, or difficulty feeling safe in relationships or daily life.

TRAUMA IS TREATABLE —

Trauma can leave lasting effects on the nervous system, but healing and change are possible with the right support. Approaches such as EMDR, somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, and trauma-informed therapies are designed to help process painful experiences, reduce survival responses, and create a greater sense of safety, stability, and connection over time.

My Approach to Trauma Therapy

I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to trauma therapy. Trauma affects each person differently, so treatment should be paced carefully and tailored to your history, nervous system, needs, and goals.

Depending on what feels most supportive, therapy may include EMDR, nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, mindfulness-based CBT, grounding skills, or a combination of approaches to help you process painful experiences and rebuild a greater sense of safety, stability, and connection.
